Chennaiyin FC marquee player Elano is ready for the final of the 2015 Hero Indian Super League against FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Sunday. It has been a stop-start season for the 34-year-old Brazilian playmaker due to injury but he has still managed to score four goals and provide four assists for the Super Machans. He spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the match and shared his thoughts on the biggest contest of the season. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
What are FC Goa’s strengths?
FC Goa are a quality side with a great coach. They deserve to be in the final. The home support for FC Goa will surely help them but may not be the deciding factor.
Do you expect it to be a tough game?
We have played each other twice this season and both games have shown it will be a difficult game. A final is always a different game from any other, the team that shows more concentration and makes fewer mistakes will have a greater chance.
The one player from FC Goa who can make a difference in the final…
As I said, FC Goa have plenty of quality but perhaps Leo Moura has been most consistent.
