Chennaiyin FC B team and youth team matches suspended till March 31 as per AIFF statement

Chennai, March 19, 2020: As per the All India Football Federation (AIFF) statement last week stating all footballing activities under its aegis stay suspended till March 31, the Hero 2nd Division League and Hero Youth Leagues matches will not be held as per schedule.

In conjunction with the same, the last Chennaiyin FC B team match in the Hero 2nd Division League and the CFC U-15 and CFC-13 matches in the respective Hero Youth Leagues are also suspended with immediate effect.

This decision from the AIFF comes in light of the preventive measures undertaken by the government against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The AIFF statement went on to say that it will take stock of the situation in the last week of March and take a decision abiding by directives from relevant authorities at that juncture.

The CFC B team are currently fourth in their Hero 2nd Division League table and have one group game left against Bengaluru FC B on the road. The match is scheduled for March 25, 2020 but will now be suspended following the aforementioned AIFF statement. The B team boys are unbeaten in their last two outings, having drawn 0-0 with the Hyderabad FC B team and beaten Mohammedan Sporting 3-1 prior.

As for the CFC U-15s, they are on course to finish on top of the Chennai group and qualify for the final round of the Hero Junior League. They currently boast a 100% record with eight wins out of eight with four group games left to be played.

The CFC U-13s are also enjoying a campaign similar to the CFC U-15s and are top of the Chennai zone with seven wins out of eight with four games to go. The CFC U-13s recently beat Raman Vijayan Soccer School by a whopping 17-0 scoreline and are the current top-scorers in their category across the country with 45 goals from eight games.

The CFC U-18s concluded their Hero Elite League campaign last month, finishing in fifth place in the Chennai & Bangalore group with 16 points.
