The Chennaiyin FC U-13 team was launched along with the U-18 and U-15 age-group teams on the club’s third birthday on August 28, 2017. They compete in the AIFF U-13 National Youth League and other football tournaments in their age group.
The CFC U-13s topped the Chennai zone with a 100% record in their debut National Youth League campaign last time out, proving head and shoulders above their local peers with eight wins in eight group games. Becoming the only youth team of an ISL side to have qualified for the final round, it was, however, a learning curve for them, finishing third in their group after a draw against Roots Football School and defeats to Sudeva FC and SAI Kolkata.
The entire CFC U-13 squad is comprised of boys only from Tamil Nadu as it is the club’s constant endeavor to promote talent from the state and create a solid pyramid of talent that goes up to the senior team.
