Chennaiyin FC aim victory against FC Goa to keep themselves afloat in ISL play-off reckoning

Vasco (Goa), February 8, 2022: Chennaiyin FC will be eager to get back to winning ways to give themselves a chance of securing a play-off berth when they take on FC Goa in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco, Goa on Wednesday.

Currently placed eighth in the standings with 19 points from 15 games, the two-time champions need to put up points on the board if they are to remain in contention.

Chennaiyin FC’s head coach Bozidar Bandovic is very well aware about the herculean task in front of him. “It is difficult but there is always a chance and we have to give everything and try everything,” Bandovic said during a virtual pre-match press conference when asked about their play-off chances.

“Five more games we could have little more points but of course we need to look at ourselves and try to give our best in the last five games. We will try to take as many points as we can.”

In their previous outing this season in January, FC Goa got the better of Chennaiyin FC with a late solitary goal.

Bandovic believes in the need to be more adventurous in the upcoming game. “We will like to start with more speed and be dangerous tomorrow [against FCG]. We will try to keep the ball and dominate, that’s the main goal,” the 52-year-old said.

“We need to be patient, we need to be together, fight together in difficult moments and I know the fans are with us and we will give our best till the end,” he concluded.
