Exploring the hidden treasures of God’s own country before our clash again Kerala Blasters FC

God’s own country. Exquisite food. Breathtaking views — of beaches, valleys, tea estates, the backwaters and wildlife sanctuaries. Truly exquisite from end to end.

Lesser known than it’s landscape, Kerala’s rich cultural and traditional heritage.

It has birth over 50 different types of dance, each unique it’s own way. Dance can be an expression of social and political issues or simply tell a story. They are masterful in technique and immersive to the viewer.

Once a focal tourist attraction, dance is now working hard to revive itself. Temple’s were one of the key providers to the artists, providing food and remuneration, but with time these institutions have drifted towards larger festivals and performances causing the demand for these dances to dwindle.

N. Krishnamoorthy, an employee of the Tourism Department who regularly organizes dance shows, says “If the temple arts are surviving today, it is only because of the artistes’ dedication.”

A shout out to all the dancers of Kerala as we prepare for a show of our own.
