Chennai, 14 August 2026: Chennaiyin FC have completed the signing of Indian defender Dippendu Biswas, adding further depth and quality to the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
The 23-year-old centre-back made his Indian Super League debut with Mohun Bagan Super Giant during the 2023-24 season after progressing through the club’s system. He enjoyed a breakthrough 2024-25 campaign, making 14 ISL appearances and contributing one goal and two assists. His performances also earned him the ISL Emerging Player of the Month award for February 2025, while he played a role in Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s historic ISL double-winning campaign.
At the international level, Biswas has been part of the India U-23 setup, having been named in the squad for international friendlies against Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. He was also part of the India U-23 squad for the tri-nation friendlies in March 2026, adding international experience to his growing career.
Speaking on the signing, Chennaiyin FC Co-Owner Vita Dani said:
“We are delighted to welcome Dippendu to Chennaiyin FC. He is an exciting young talent who has already gained valuable experience at the highest level of Indian football. His composure, versatility and willingness to learn make him a very good addition to our squad. Biswas expressed his excitement at beginning a new chapter with the two-time champions and reuniting with Head Coach Clifford Miranda, whom he has worked with previously.
“A new chapter, a new challenge, and a club with big ambitions. I’m excited to join Chennaiyin FC and give my best for the team.
Having worked with Coach Clifford Miranda before, I’m looking forward to reuniting with him, continuing to learn, and taking the next step in my journey. Ready for what’s ahead.”
