Chennai, September 2: Chennaiyin FC have completed the signing of midfielder Lalhriatpuia Chawngthu ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season, with the 21-year-old becoming the club’s final signing of the season.
The Mizoram-born midfielder joins the Marina Machans from Jamshedpur FC. Chawngthu made his Indian Super League debut during the 2024-25 season and went on to make 10 appearances for Jamshedpur in the 2025-26 campaign. He has also featured in the Durand Cup, adding to his experience at the senior level.
Welcoming Chawngthu to Chennaiyin FC, Co-owner Vita Dani said:
“Lalhriatpuia is a young player who has already gained valuable experience in the ISL and the Durand Cup. He has the potential to develop further, and we believe Chennaiyin will be a good environment for him to take that next step. We’re happy to have him with us and look forward to seeing him in Chennaiyin colours.”
Speaking on his move to Chennaiyin FC, Lalhriatpuia Chawngthu said:

Chawngthu becomes Chennaiyin FC’s final addition ahead of the 2026-27 season, completing the club’s squad for the campaign.
