Chennaiyin FC have completed the signing of India U-23 international Muhammed Saheef, bolstering the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
A product of Parappur FC’s youth setup, Saheef rose to prominence with his performances in the Kerala Premier League before joining Kerala Blasters in 2022. The versatile left-footed defender gained valuable first-team experience during a loan spell at Gokulam Kerala in the 2023–24 season, making 21 I-League appearances and establishing himself as a regular in defence. Comfortable at both left-back and centre-back, the 22-year-old has also represented the India U-23 national team and is regarded as one of the country’s exciting young defensive talents.
Speaking after completing the move, Muhammed Saheef said:
“I’m incredibly grateful to begin this new chapter with Chennaiyin FC. From my conversations with the club, I felt a genuine sense of belief and trust, and I knew this was the right place for me to grow. Representing this club is a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and I’m committed to giving everything I have, every single day, to repay that faith and make our fans proud. I can’t wait to wear the Chennaiyin colours and fight for this club alongside my teammates and our incredible supporters.”
Vita Dani, Co-owner, Chennaiyin FC, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Muhammed to the Chennaiyin FC family. He is a young defender with excellent potential, strong defensive instincts and the versatility to play across the backline. Despite his age, he has already gained valuable experience at the highest levels of Indian football, and we believe he has all the qualities to continue developing with us. We’re excited to see him grow into an important member of our squad and contribute to the club’s ambitions in the seasons ahead.”
Saheef becomes Chennaiyin FC’s fifth signing ahead of the new season, as the Marina Machans continue to strengthen their squad in preparation for the upcoming campaign.
