Chennai, 28 July 2026: Chennaiyin FC have completed the signing of experienced Portuguese defender Nuno Reis, adding leadership, quality and a wealth of experience to the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
The 35-year-old centre-back joins the Marina Machans after an impressive stint in the Indian Super League with Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC, bringing with him over a decade of experience across Europe, Australia and India.
A product of Sporting CP’s renowned academy, Reis represented Portugal at various youth levels before embarking on a professional career that saw him feature for clubs including Cercle Brugge, Blackburn Rovers, Panathinaikos and Vitória Setúbal. He later enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with Melbourne City FC, winning two A-League Championships and three Premierships while establishing himself as one of the competition’s most dependable defenders.
Reis arrived in Indian football in 2024 with Mohun Bagan Super Giant before joining Mumbai City FC midway through last season. Renowned for his composure on the ball, aerial dominance and defensive organisation, he has established himself as one of the ISL’s most experienced foreign defenders.
